The Young Author Struggle

It’s like the boy who cried wolf. Sometimes you think there’s some obstacle in your path when, in reality, nothing’s really there. Younger authors tend to beat themselves up a lot when they try to get their work out there into the big wide world. They think that books and stories and all those other things belong in the BIG WORLD. The BIG WORLD is the place for the authors who have already established themselves in the big leagues, the bestsellers, and the trilogy movie-dealers. The BIG WORLD isn’t for the small fries, the people who write in high school and college magazines or even just for fun. But here’s something to think about. You write. The simplest definition of any writer is someone who writes. You may write better or worse than others, but it’s still writing. The wolves, those imaginary people or real people already telling you that you can’t do it, they’re all bark and no bite. The BIG WORLD has its place just for you. It’s up to you to be brave enough to walk out there with your head held high. You are a writer.
And there are no wolves allowed.
