Ten Things Authors Think About When Writing Horror
I love horror stories. I love watching horror movies, getting into the Halloween spirit, and learning about new and creepy mythology. I hate haunted houses, but no horror-loving fool can be perfect. That being said, here’s 10 things writers think about when writing horror stories.
- I’m going to be like Mary Shelley
- It was a dark and stormy night… no, no, too cliche.
- WHAT’S BEHIND YOU? Oh, it’s just my reflection.
- Oh. Just got shivers from my own writing.
- Now, how many of my characters should I let live?
- Stephen King, eat your heart out. Wait, no, don’t do that. That’s gross.
- I need more gore. No, less gore. Yeah, definitely less is more.
- WHAT’S BEHIND ME? Oh, it’s still my reflection.
- I’m winning all the jump-scare awards.
- I’m sleeping with the lights on tonight.
